Resist is a program run by the USE which is aimed at addressing the issue of antibiotic resistance. Antibiotic resistance occurs when bacteria develop the ability to survive exposure to antibiotics that were previously effective in treating them. This phenomenon poses a significant threat to public health, as it can lead to infections that are more difficult to treat and may result in longer hospital stays, higher healthcare costs, and increased mortality rates.
